In 1950, the United States Post office created US Scott # 995, it was honoring the Boy scouts of America, it also was the first stamp to honor the Boy Scouts of America. It was issued the same day as the opening of the National Jamobree, It also was issued there, in Vally Forge. The scouts during the jamobree, camped in the same spot as George Washington during the famous 1777 winter.

The boy scouts of America was Founded in 1910 by William D Boyce, after his encounter with the helpful scout. He then went to see Sir Baden Robert Powell, who founded scouts in England. Once he did that William came back to the United States, to form the Boy Scout of America. Today there are about 3 million boy scout in the United States. Plus there are some in the sub organizations like Venturing Scouts.
